Code of Ethics
Rule 1 – Misrepresentation
It is unethical to deceive or mislead purchasers of goods and services by advertising, labelling or otherwise as to the character, quantity, size, weight, performance or quality of such goods and services.
Rule 2 – Pricing
It is unethical to publish a price list or specifically indicate a price to a customer which might deceive or mislead such customer.
Rule 3 – Deceptive documentation
It is unethical to issue an invoice or similar document which might deceive or mislead a purchaser, competitor or member of the public.
Rule 4 – Prohibited Discrimination
It is unethical to give any credit, discount, refund or other pecuniary inducement such that this would discriminate unfairly between purchasers of similar goods or give one of them a monopoly or unfair advantage.
Rule 5 – Prohibited Forms of Trade Restraints, Price Fixing, etc.
It is unethical to agree or conspire with other members to fix or maintain the price of goods and services or otherwise restrain trade.
Rule 6 – Prohibited Sales Below Cost or at Unreasonably Low Prices
It is unethical to sell or offer products and services below cost or at unreasonably low prices with the intention of lessening competition, prejudicing a competitor or creating a monopoly.
Rule 7 – Enticing Away Employees of Competitors
It is unethical to entice away any employee of a competitor with the intention of lessening competition, provided that this Rule shall not prevent an employee from seeking more favourable employee.
Rule 8 – Defamation
No member shall disparage a competitor by falsely imputing inefficiency, questionable credit standing or trading practices or other mid-conduct.
Rule 9 – Offers of inducements
No Member shall offer a pecuniary or other inducement to a customer to persuade such customer to purchase goods or services from the Member.
Rule 10 – Conduct
Members shall at all times conduct themselves in a proper and professional manner when operating their business and shall at all times be aware of their moral and social responsibilities to customers and employees.
